Unveiling the Wisdom of Mañjuśrī

Tulku Sherdor (Blazing Wisdom Institute, New York) will visit Amsterdam, The Netherlands to teach a program entitled “Unveiling the Wisdom of Mañjuśrī”.

Tulku Sherdor is a Heart-son of H.H. Orgyen Kusum Lingpa, who enthroned him as a Tulku in His own family line. Tulku Sherdor has been Executive Director of the Blazing Wisdom Institute, a non-profit organisation, since 1997. Born in Montreal, Canada in 1961, he met his principal teacher, Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, in Nepal in 1981, and was fortunate to study with other pre-eminent Tibetan Buddhist masters of the 20th century, including H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Khetsun Zangpo Rinpoche, Dung-say Trinley Norbu Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche, and many others. He has been teaching and transmitting dharma around the world for more than thirty years, and has authored many books, including Entering the Great Expanse, the Wisdom of Manjusri, and Crumbs from a Parrot’s Beak.

The weekend teaching program will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September 2023 from 10:30 to 17:00 CET each day in De Roos, P.C. Hooftstraat 183 1071 BW Amsterdam. The program will also be available online for those who cannot attend in person.

On Saturday, Tulku Sherdor will offer a Mañjuśrī jenang ceremony (permission to practice) and lung (oral reading transmission) for H.H. Orgyen Kusam Lingpa’s concise sādhanā of Mañjuśrī from his Yidam cycle. He will then give a tri (teaching) on the sādhanā and we will practice it together. He will also give the lung for the Mañjuśrīnāmasamgīti (Professing the Qualities Mañjuśrī / Mañjuśrī Tantra).

On Sunday, we will then apply the prajñā or wisdom aspect of Mañjuśrī in practice by engaging in an open and respectful discussion and dialogue on important social impact topics covered in Tulku’s Sherdor’s book “Crumbs from a Parrots Beak: Plucked from my Meditation Mat” (Blazing Wisdom Publications, 2021) and how these issues can be approached from a Buddhist philosophical perspective.

Registration is open to all, there are no prerequisites. Registration fee: €90.00 in person (€60.00 online) for the full weekend program, including tea, coffee and refreshments. Concessions available if finances are an obstacle to attendance.
